Georgian tea party
Stamford LibDem Mayor, Cllr Maureen Jalili, hosted a delightful Georgian Afternoon for neighbouring civic heads, councillors and visitors on Saturday 31st January 2009. Civic Heads attending included Lincoln, Huntingdon, Rutland, Northampton, Spalding, March and SKDC. The day commenced with a guided tour of Stamford's magnificent stone buildings by Blue Badge guide Jill Collinge. This was followed by a Georgian Afternoon Tea, prepared and served very professionally by the students of New College Stamford who had thoroughly researched their subject and provided a wonderful array to tempt guests.
This was an opportunity to show the visitors Stamford's wonderful heritage and the equally impressive Town Hall where all guests were given a tour of the regalia by Cllr Maureen Jalili. The event was extremely successful and commended by all those attending. To finish off the day, Cllr Bisnauthsing lead a tour of the Council Chamber and dungeons.
