Bus Pass saga continues in penny pinching SKDC - suggestion from a resident3.19.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 18th Sep 2008 This email came through from a Mr. Doughty, have any of you tried this? We did ask at the Stamford Town Forum whether what Mr. Doughty's suggests could be done and the answer was a simple NO. Why? By the way if SKDC introduced a start time of 8.30am for the bus passes in line with other Six District Councils, the cost to them would be at the most £17000. We can't see why you can't do what Mr. Doughty has suggested. email from Mr. Doughty The most convenient bus for Ancaster shoppers to Grantham departs at 0924 and the fare for the pair of us is £5.20 (one way). Until SKDC finally relents on this 09.30 restriction, I wonder if it would be possible to pay for a ticket to the next stop down the line, assuming it takes more than six minutes, then disembarking and realighting for a free ticket for the rest of the journey, it now being past the 0930 restriction. Just a thought! AD PS 1. The rail fare for the same journey is £4.00 for the two of using our Senior Citizens Rail Cards (but the trains are as rare as the buses) PS 2. The cost of using our car for the same journey is £3.00 return and I do not have to wait until 0930 to drive it.
